Contrary to what one might assume from watching the first few episodes of Akagi, the guy is not actually a demon that only materializes once darkness falls. He does not shrivel up and turn to dust when exposed to sunlight, either. Believe it or not, Akagi is physically an ordinary human being. Akagi does, in fact, need to eat, though the anime omitted that in favour of cooler scenes.

Do you remember the energy drinks that Akagi bought during the Washizu arc? He actually ends up drinking his Polyvita C later on in the manga. Energy drinks for the win! Manga is read right to left, by the way.

19-year-old Akagi drinking coffee with Osamu. You know when Akagi beats up the three morons and Osamu insists on following Akagi because he wants to be like him? That situation actually took place in a coffee shop. Notice Osamu has already packed his bags (and probably quit his job, too) and is very willing to be Akagi’s devoted #1 follower.

And here’s one last pic from the Urabe arc. If you recall, it took a while before the real Mahjong match got started. It was getting rather late, so Akagi and Osamu had to spend the night at the inn. In the same room.
Yes, they ended up… sleeping together.
In separate beds with pyjamas on, you perverts. Of course, Osamu couldn’t sleep very well… Afraid of Akagi doing things to him in his sleep, perhaps? Or maybe of yakuza suddenly busting in with guns blazing? Sweet dreams. Poor kid.
